Numerous Events on the Shore Offer Opportunities for Breast Cancer Awareness
October is breast cancer awareness month, and local organizations and businesses have embraced the cause, offering plenty of events and educational opportunities. From races to free screenings, the crusade against breast cancer is well represented on the Eastern Shore. For those affected by breast cancer, be it personally or via the diagnosis of a friend or family member, sharing in these experiences offers a chance for camaraderie and hope for the future. For those who haven’t been personally affected, consider joining the cause and assisting your local community in battling a disease that affects approximately 1 in 8 women. Besides skin cancer, it is the highest diagnosed cancer in women, and aside from lung cancer, it has the highest mortality rate.
