Slow Progress at the Humphreys House

Posted by Shorebread | Monday, October 17, 2011

Even after a full week of work, things at the Humphreys House look as if little progress was made. In reality, though, a lot of work was done recently, but most of it was reframing underneath the home. That sures up the structure to move forward.

The back stairwell is now open quite a bit more than originally planned. Half of the stairwell will now be exposed to the dining room side, and a few steps rounded around into the kitchen as well, for a wide-open doorway.

Currently, the dining room is full of large boxes, as our cabinets were delivered sooner than anticipated. We’re very anxious to complete the framing and drywall in the kitchen so we can begin the layout of the cabinets, and then order countertops. The kitchen is the most exciting room to me, as I enjoy spending time cooking and baking, as well as entertaining. The kitchen should always be warm and welcoming.

Stay tuned for next week’s progress report!
