A Lucky Girl's Life: Save the Ta Ta's
I think all of us have been touched by loved ones and friends who have had some type of cancer. Its truly shocking how many people have been affected, and sadly, at all ages. It is so important to keep aware and to help prevent and save lives.
I'm glad to be part of a cause that can help those that have to fight the battle. It is a heartbreaking experience for the patient and their families, but there are organizations that bring hope. Women Supporting Women gives that and more. Locally, Women Supporting Women supports survivors of breast cancer through mentoring and provides counseling for newly diagnosed patients and their families. They also maintain a library of support material, provide wigs, scarves, head coverings, prosthesis, and bras for patients.
In the United States, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. It is the second leading cause of death among women. With those facts, it is wise to start an early detection plan first my implementing self-exams, then scheduling exams and mammograms based on your age and family history.
|Symptoms to Look For:||* Change in breast size or shape|
|* Nipple discharge||* Dimpling anywhere on breast|
|* Invert or inward nipple||* Nipple tenderness|
|* Change in the pore size of your skin.||* Any lumps|
Robin Walter Salon and Spa is having its fourth annual Breast Cancer Awareness Event on Sunday, October 28th from 11 am until 3 pm. This event is held in memory of Christine Whaley and benefits our local chapter of Women Supporting Women.
Enjoy complimentary literature on breast cancer awareness at our event and enjoy a fun filled day with us. You can bid on wonderful prizes starting now for our Chinese auction, and we are selling $5 donation raffle tickets for free spa services. On the day of the event you can bid on silent auction items or relax and enjoy spa services at half price. All donations are submitted to Women Supporting Women. We are still taking donations from local businesses if you wish to support this great cause. You can contact Kim King or me for more information.
