SILVER ON THE SHORE

I am someone, perhaps a friend or neighbor, who was born and bred on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Or maybe I have come to this peaceful land by the sea to seek respite from the chaos of a busy career, elsewhere.

I am someone whose hair has thinned and waistline has thickened (only a bit)!

I am someone who no longer uncaringly leaps from my bed but considers the trick knee or achy hip before taking that first morning step.

I am someone who has learned to eschew the fries and forego the sunbathing; preferring instead to sip water, eat fresh/local and get my Vitamin D well protected with sunblock.

I wear sensible shoes – and comfortable clothing.  No longer tottering about on heels, no longer needing the work-a-day uniform including an infernal necktie!

I have more leisure; more time to explore and develop and learn; care deeply about my friends and family, and value my health.  I have saved some money (only a bit), for the unexpected or to assist a family member in need.

I am you - I am Silver on the Shore!

My adventures will be chronicled as I go about prospecting, developing interests and seeking the many sensible pleasures that abound all over Delmarva! My new column Silver on the Shore will be published right here in this very spot every other week, on Shorebread.
